US announces new $725 million aid package for Ukraine

Washington, Dec 2 (EFE).- The United States announced on Monday a new military aid package for Ukraine worth 725 million dollars, including anti-personnel mines and ammunition for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS).

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken stressed in a statement that the US and more than 50 other countries remain united in ensuring that Kyiv has the capabilities to defend itself against “Russian aggression.”

The package includes 155mm and 105mm ammunition, drones, TOW and Javelin anti-tank missiles, demolition equipment and ammunition, Stinger surface-to-air missiles, and materials to protect critical national infrastructure.

Earlier on Monday, US Secretary of State Lloyd Austin spoke with his Ukrainian counterpart Rustem Umerov about battlefield dynamics and Ukrainian battlefield needs.

According to a Pentagon statement, Austin condemned the recent rocket and drone attacks on Ukrainian civilian infrastructure and Russia’s use of an intermediate-range ballistic missile, which he said was “another escalation” in Russia’s war against Ukraine. EFE
