Washington, Dec 3 (EFE).- The United States said it was ‘outraged’ and had asked Israel’s government for more information about the death of a Save the Children humanitarian worker in an Israeli strike in southern Gaza.
“We are outraged, and we are wanting more information about this incident,” State Department spokesman Vedant Patel told a news conference after being asked about the aid worker’s death.
The US official said he had no further information about what happened but that “humanitarian workers must be protected so they can safely deliver aid, whether it be in Gaza or whether it be truly anywhere in the world.”
“We urge Israel to thoroughly and transparently investigate actions like these, and take appropriate action in their system, including ensuring ability for any violations,” he added.
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs reported that on 30 Nov. a deaf Save the Children worker was killed in an Israeli air strike in Khan Younis as he was returning home from a mosque and in a separate incident three World Central Kitchen staff were killed in an Israeli airstrike on their vehicle near an aid distribution site in Khan Younis.
