Los Angeles, US, Jan 20 (EFE).- Pop icon Madonna has publicly condemned recent measures by US President Donald Trump that target the LGBT+ community.
“It’s so sad to watch our new government slowly dismantling all the freedoms we have been fighting for and won over the years,” Madonna wrote on her X .
She added the LGTB+ pride flag, a broken heart emoji, her picture and the rallying cry, “Don’t give up the fight!”
Madonna’s statement came hours after Trump signed an executive order banning gender-affirming treatments and surgeries for minors under 19, which he referred to as “protecting children from chemical and surgical mutilation.”
The order criticized medical professionals for what it called “maiming and sterilizing a growing number of impressionable children under the radical and false claim that adults can change a child’s sex through a series of irreversible medical interventions.”
A longtime advocate for LGBT+ rights, Madonna has been vocal about her since the 1990s, particularly during the AIDS crisis.
Her activism has made her a prominent figure in the fight for equality and acceptance. EFE
